Making Paper!

September 2015

Family Story Quilt
First Grade Family Story Quilt, Collage and Illustration.

Welcome to Art! I am always so excited to start the new school year. The new year holds such promise for thoughtful, beautiful artworks! My name is Kristen Adamczyk and I will be teaching grades 1-5. I have been teaching art for over 15 years, as well as a working as a artist. Most recently I exhibited my encaustic paintings at the Shirt Factory Gallery in upstate NY, as well as the 440 Gallery in Park Slope. While teaching art at 29 I am also a parent of 3 boys, ages 16,11 and 9.

Overview of September-December 2015:
Grade One - The life and work of artists such as Vincent VanGogh and Frida Kahlo. The self and families are a year long theme.
Grade Two - Landscape vs. cityscape, showing the illusion of depth in our artwork. A year long theme of architecture.
Grade Three - How art began, The Cave Paintings of Lascaux, France; with a year long theme of “Art Around the World.”
Grade Four - Symbols in art followed by the “Arts of the Native American People.”
Grade Five - How artists influence others, including politics. Throughout the year students will work on building higher level art skills, such as color theory and discussion of artworks.
